Surprisingly, Phil is pretty good against Gilles. Why? I found that his skill can line up with a three star archers' skill. The result: a three star archer killing Gilles, taking damage from the reflection, and getting healed by Phil.
Seamas test is going well, looks like his stone troops might have the abilities of the pre-death unit.
